Hi beauties. I’m sorry for being MIA. A very close family friend passed away last week and it’s been a pretty emotional time. I needed some time away but I’m back now.
This spring I’m really into playful bright lipsticks. They add a fun pop of color and allow everything else to be very minimal, which makes getting ready a breeze! Here are my current favorite lipsticks for the season. See my lip gloss picks here.
Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate Moss Lipstick in 06
Rimmel makes really great lipsticks and the Kate Moss collection is no exception. The packaging is very chic and the lipstick is super pigmented. I was obsessed with the hot pink lipcolor my coworker was wearing recently and had to know what it was. When she told me it was 06 from the Kate Moss for Rimmel collection I ran to Walgreens right away to get one. It’s a hot reddish pink that’s so fun for spring and summer. The color also lasts on the lips a long time.
I am totally in love with this color! This is a vibrant, hot blue-based pink and I can’t get enough! It has a matte finish and looks awesome on its own or with a bit of gloss on top. Like most matte lipsticks it is drying and not super comfortable to wear but adding a bit of balm or gloss on top or before applying the lipstick helps with that. MAC calls this “the lipstick dreams were made of” and I totally agree!!!
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Pink Pop
I’m a fan of Maybelline lip colors (especially Fuchsia Fever!) and I’ve been dying to try their Vivids line. Pink Pop is a nearly matte, bright baby pink lipstick with a touch of lilac. The formula can settle into lines a bit and I find that putting a touch of lip balm on before applying can keep the color from doing that and also makes it more wearable. This is a great trick when wearing bright lipsticks in general.
NYX Round Lipstick in Narcissus
Narcissus is a bright blue-based bubblegum pink, almost neon. It looks very similar to Pink Pop in this picture but it’s MUCH more bright pink and less lilac in person. Click here to see a truer color representation of this lipstick. Not sure why my camera isn’t picking it up! This is a really fun color and can look chic and mod with winged liner and lots of black mascara. This lipstick also looks best when you apply a touch of lip balm first, otherwise the color can settle into lines and look chalky.
Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel
The Color Whispers are a gel formula that makes for a sheer, juicy looking finish. Petal Rebel is a perfect light pink color and the formula is very hydrating. I love “lipsticks” like this because you can apply without looking in a mirror so it makes for easy touch ups or it’s great when you want color on your lips but you don’t want the maintenance of a super pigmented formula.
